Emmie’s FIRST Birthday Party

Ain’t no party like a quarantine party!

Our little Emmie turned ONE on May 4th and to celebrate, we had a drive-by party with some family and friends! I can’t believe we have a one year old. As cliche as it sounds, it really does go by fast. When we heard the state was going to keep the shelter in place order going for another month, we knew we’d have to find a way to celebrate without having a traditional party. I had seen this wave of “drive-by” parties all over social media and loved the idea! Who wouldn’t want a parade for their birthday?

Planning parties is something I absolutely love. And parties for the kids are my favorite. I wanted this party to play off of the current state of the world but with some lighthearted humor. So a “Quarantine Party” it was! I jumped on Amazon to look for some hazmat party decor since going into a party store wasn’t really an option and Amazon has literally everything. I found THIS sign in the “handmade” section. Staple it to some stakes, throw in some balloons and we were in business! We got the balloons from a locally-owned party store who were offering balloon bouquet drop-offs, (find their info HERE). I also found THIS tape that we put up.

We pulled the barbeque around to the front yard so we could give our friends some hot dogs and burgers to-go and we had ourselves a party! We had so much fun seeing everyone in person, even if it was from a distance. Watching the kids’ faces light up with each car going by and being able to celebrate with all our friends & family made Emmie’s party so special. With everything going on in the world it was nice to have something to celebrate and the memories of this crazy time are some that we’ll have forever!
